Photo Assistant Required

This is a preliminary casting call for an assistant on some personal/art photo projects happening this spring and summer in the Vancouver area.

Interested candidates should come equipped with a fairly low opinion of themselves, a love of working harder than anyone else around them, and a penchant for menial tasks. A typical day might involve holding a light on a boom for an hour while listening to commands such as “Back a bit. Forward a bit. Back again. No, back more. Back more. Forward again. Forward more. Okay, now left a bit. Left more. Right again. Left again. Right again. Where’s my coffee dammit? Left more. Right again. Left again. Right again. Back. Back. Back. Back. Back. Stop. Forward until I tell you….”

Primary duties will include carrying gear, fetching coffee, stroking the photographer’s ego, holding light stands to keep them from blowing away, acting as a VALS, laughing at my jokes, and sundry other tasks.

Photographic knowledge is not necessary.
Availability and flexibility are key.
Compensation will only be provided in the form of the occasional alcoholic or caffeinated beverage unless engaged for a paid shoot.
