Desert Roadtrip 2011

Summer seems like it has finally come to stay for a while here in Vancouver, but instead of sticking around to enjoy it, we’re jumping in the car and heading to the desert. That’s right, summer in the American desert. Today’s highs? Moab: 36ºC, Joshua Tree: 37º, Death Valley: 45º.

For the next three weeks I’ll be rising early to photograph sunrises over otherworldly landscapes, lugging my camera over canyon ridges, and hopefully building a completely new landscape portfolio. With luck, I’ll also be busting out the lights now and then for a couple of portrait projects I’m carrying around in the back of my brain.

The map above should give a dynamic look at where we’re going and what we’re doing, and despite being off the grid for most of the next month I hope to update it now and then with details and a photo or two. If the map doesn’t load, try refreshing the page or visiting tripline.com directly.

That’s it for now. I have batteries to charge, gear to pack, and a shaggy head of hair to buzz in preparation for the desert heat.

That puts you awfully close to Flagstaff!

  2. Mark Feenstra says:

I meant to get in touch with you actually. Wasn’t sure if you’re still in Flag though.

Email me your contact info/address? photo@markfeenstra.com if you don’t have my gmail info. Either works. We should be driving through Flagstaff.
