Stuff I Like: Velcro Cable Ties

Cables tend to unwind and tangle at the best of times, so it’s no surprise that these velcro cable tie straps make my life just a little bit more pleasant. Available in a variety of lengths and colours, these things are  great for keeping your accessories in check. I use one around my Octa to keep it from unfolding when I store it in my Lowepro Pro Roller x300, one around my computer cables, and to as you can see, I use them to hold my Elinchrom Quadra cables together when I need to move them around to get at something underneath. Using different colours to mark different cable lengths makes it quick and easy to grab exactly what you need if you’re carrying more than a few in your lighting kit.

The brand shown here is ngear, and a pack of 10 nine inch cable ties came in under $4 at my local computer shop. At that cost, it’s a small price to pay for not having cables spilling out all over the place in the middle of a shoot.
