Starting at $25/hr with a 2 hour minimum.
In these 1 on 1 sessions, you define the nature of the lessons, and the pace at which they proceed. Start anywhere and build through a progressive series of lessons designed to help you maximize your image making potential. All instruction is held in the Vancouver area. Explore the following learning options:
- Fundamentals of Photography: What are ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture, and how do I apply knowledge of what they do to my photography?
- Photo Composition: What do you mean the Rule of Thirds isn’t all there is? Learning about the Golden Ratio, leading lines, framing, light and dark, background separation, and much more.
- Digital Editing: Different film stocks had unique character and style, whereas digital images are flat and bland by nature. Basic post-processing in iPhoto, Picasa, or Photoshop can radically improve the quality of your images. Already know the basics? Dive into advanced Photoshop techniques.
- Intermediate Camera Settings: Choosing and setting custom White Balance. Understanding Centre Weighted, Matrix, and Spot metering. Focus area mode selection and how to choose a specific focus point. RAW vs JPEG.
- Developing a Creative Eye: Discussion and practice of why people find images interesting, and how you can approach subjects with a unique and creative vision.
- Lens Selection: Which lens when? Learning how focal length affects image compression or why the pros get really amazing landscape shots (hint: wide angle lenses, but not too wide!)
- Flash Photography: Why you should you should never use the built in flash on my camera. What to do if you absolutely must use the built in flash on your camera. And, buying a flash unit and using it both on and off camera.
- And anything you can think to ask!
